The Eastern African Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (EAAACA)s' will convene its 16th Anti-Corruption Conference, Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 31st Executive Committee (EXCO) meeting in Kampala, Uganda, from 23 - 27 March, 2026 . Alongside the EAAACA meetings, the Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network for Eastern Africa (ARINEA), the network for EAAACA will hold its 8th AGM, Steering Group Meeting, and the 1st Africa Asset Recovery Conference, as well as launch Uganda’s in-country structure for Asset Recovery.
The planned joint meetings aimed to strengthen regional collaboration in the fight against corruption, with a focus on strategic prevention and asset recovery. While enforcement remains important, there is growing recognition that sustainable anti-corruption outcomes in Eastern Africa require proactive, preventive, and coordinated regional approaches.
The theme for this year’s AGM is, “Unmasking Beneficial Ownership in the Fight against Corruption and Recovery of Assets”.
The theme highlights the critical link between transparency in beneficial ownership and the ability to trace, seize, and recover illicitly acquired assets.
Corruption thrives in an environment where anonymous corporate structures, weak oversight, and financial secrecy dominate. By unmasking the true owners behind these structures, anti-corruption authorities can dismantle networks of illicit financial flows, enhance investigations, and facilitate cross-border asset recovery.
The Inspectorate of Government of Uganda is the host for the meetings.
