EAAACA gets New General Secretary Ms Lillian William Kafiti

The 16th Annual General Meeting of the Eastern Africa Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities, EAAACA held on 24th April, 2026, approved Ms. Lilian William Kafiti, from Tanzania, as the new General Secretary.  She takes over from Ms Munira Ali who has been acting General Secretary of the Association, since 2017.

In her remarks, the outgoing General Secretary reflected on the progress made by the Association in strengthening collaboration among anti-corruption institutions across Eastern Africa, Africa and Beyond. She noted that during her tenure, the Secretariat worked closely with member institutions, asset recovery networks and various partners to promote information sharing, coordinate regional activities, and support capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of anti-corruption agencies.

She emphasized that EAAACA has continued to remain a strong Association enabling member institutions to collectively address corruption challenges that increasingly transcend national boundaries. Through joint engagements, technical support, and coordinated initiatives, the Association has strengthened its role in promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability across the region.

Ms. Munira extended sincere appreciation to the President of EAAACA, the Executive Committee, member institutions, and development partners for their continued support and cooperation with the Secretariat throughout her tenure.

She noted that the achievements realized during this period were the result of collective commitment and teamwork among all members of the Association.

As she officially handed over the responsibilities of the Secretariat to her successor Ms. Lilian, she expressed confidence that the new leadership would continue to advance the Association’s mission and further strengthen regional efforts to combat corruption.

She committed to supporting the work of the Eastern African Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities and the Network to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability.
